Via Lactea

November, 2019I designed this poster based on the Latin phrase, Via Lactea, meaning ‘Milky Way’. Transforming the literal meaning to something consumable and familiar, I included in this poster both the Greek and English translations to inform the viewer of the meaning of the design and my interpretation of the phrase. Within the illustration of a cereal bowl, I focused on the melting of colors in the swirl to reflect the colors of the galactic sky.

At the beginning stages of these sketches
it became increasingly evident to me that
in order to convey the meaning behind my
interpretation of this Latin phrase, I would
need to expand on the illustrative detail
and depth of my compositions.
